1st Minor: Entrepreneurship

While not directly connected to the design world or design study world, I chose for my first minor the HAN minor Entrepreneurship at the HAN Centre for Valorisation and Entrepreneurship. During this semester we first worked on projects centrered around how to see chances as an entrepreneur, global and local trends and how to use these opportunities.

We had different guest speakers (fellow entrepreneurs), but also people from companies like Swapfiets and Tony's Chocolonely to tell about their story and the parth they followed; or should I say created? In groups we learned about our strength's, weaknesses and how to fully utilise our (business) network.

In the second part of the minor we started validating our own company-concepts by contacting branche experts and/or doing surveys and exploring other ways to get a better view of the situation. This minor helps me as a designer to better know myself, with pitching and to create (even more) innovative and sustainable products.

At the end of the minor I, as chairman of the Engineering Institute Committee, organized the first HAN Tech Talk with the Dutch astronaut André Kuipers. My minor experience already helped me in this case with the organisation and setup of this event. With a final 8.6 out of 10 rating a successful start of the HAN Tech Talks!
