Desk Lamp for IKEA
This first design task was the start of my design study.
The task was to design a desk lamp for IKEA with as target audience
the young group of 16-24. We didn't have much requirements because
it was the first task and we first had to learn the process of designing something.
I started my project with making some sketches. It was hard in the beginning because it's
the first time you have a design assignment and you are in the process of learning how to
go through the development.
Besides the sketches I teamed up with 3 classmates to do a survey about desk lamps.
With the results and the results of other research I made a design brief with requirements.
Pretty soon after the research and sketching I started dimensioning my concept. I made
a desk lamp that would be innovative and one that uses new technology just as IKEA
had done with their tables with wireless charging in it.
The result was a desk lamp with RGB light bulb, colours changeable with a smartphone, and a
lampshade which would also change colour when the bulb was adjusted. Click here to see the trailer of DELLINGR.
